Saline, Michigan, located about five miles southwest of Ann Arbor along the Saline River, is a town of around 9,000 residents, many of whom live in Saline and work in Ann Arbor or nearby Detroit. The town has been repeatedly ranked as one of the best cities in the United States in which to live by the annual Money magazine poll.

Saline Overview

Saline combines a small town atmosphere with nearness to "big city" services, such as education, shopping, dining, collegiate and major league sports and health care. The city's downtown shopping district is a collection of locally-owned retailers and restaurants, with names like Cobblestone Rose (a home interior store), Reincarnations Resale, and Brecon Grille, a traditional English-style pub/restaurant. There's also a weekly farmers' market, which sets up on Saturdays year-round.

Saline has a lively arts and cultural community for a town of its size. In addition to being the home of the annual Celtic Festival, a celebration of the city's Welsh heritage that draws visitors from all over the United States, Saline is home to the Saline Fiddlers, a nationally-recognized blue grass group, and a community arts center.
